Mesoporous zirconium pyrophosphate for the adsorption of fluoride from dilute aqueous solutions

چکیده

Mesoporous zirconium pyrophosphate(ZPP) adsorbents were synthesized, with six quaternary ammonium salts (Quats), namely, Octyltrimethylammonium (OTMA, C8), Decyltrimethylammonium (DCTMA, C10), Dodecyltrimethylammonium (DDTMA, C12), Tetradecyltrimethylammonium (TDTMA, C14), Hexadecyltrimethylammoium (HDTMA, C16), and Octadecyltrimethylammonium (ODTMA, C18), as template for studying fluoride adsorption. Quats of long carbon chain length significantly affected the specific surface area mesoporous ZPP adsorbents. C18-ZPP exhibited largest adsorption density. Fluoride density remained constant at pH < 7.0, decreased sharply increased beyond 7, became minimal > 10–11. Langmuir isotherm described characteristics well. Results showed that synthesized C18 Zr to molar ratio 0.57:1 best capacity (32 mmol/g) among all prepared various ratios. two-fold increase in removal compared plain ZPP. The reusability was assessed by running least five cycles. is a promising adsorbent from water much enhanced capacity, regenerability, reusability.

Porous zirconium alginate beads adsorbent for fluoride adsorption from aqueous solutions

Porous zirconium alginate beads as a novel adsorbent were prepared for fluoride removal and characterized by SEM, FTIR, TG, EDX and XPS. The effect of solution pH, adsorbent dose, initial fluoride concentration, contact time, medium temperature and the coexisting ions on adsorption capacity of fluoride ion has been studied. The presence of HCO3 , SO4 2and PO4 3had a large negative impact on flu...

Molecular simulation of adsorption from dilute solutions.

Adsorption of biomolecules on surfaces is a perennial and general challenge relevant to many fields in biotechnology. A change of the Helmholtz free energy DeltaA takes place when a molecule becomes adsorbed out of a bulk solution. The purpose of our investigations is to explore routes for the calculation of DeltaA by molecular simulations. DeltaA can be obtained both by integration over the me...

Irreversible adsorption from dilute polymer solutions.

We study irreversible polymer adsorption from dilute solutions theoretically. Universal features of the resultant non-equilibrium layers are predicted. Two broad cases are considered, distinguished by the magnitude of the local monomer-surface sticking rate Q: chemisorption (very small Q) and physisorption (large Q). Early stages of layer formation entail single-chain adsorption. While single-c...
